The wise man among the dead
My Egypt trip was great and Cairo was beautiful.
I had a lowly or to be polite, earthly guy as my guide (who rides a horse cart) for my pyramid visit and I was astonished to find out that his English was much better than mine (though my wife dismissed this (i.e., my English) as routine without a blink of an eye). He told me he never went to school. I took my imaginary hat off and asked for his blessings.
I: are you in this job for long?
He: quite a while pal. It's kinda getting int' my nerves you know sort of a bingbang?
I: err.. mmmm.. yeah..
He: gotta do this chum. Howdya make it happen in your life mate?
I: ah?
My wife: he is asking what is your job..
I: oh.. I am a finance guy working for a telecom company.
He: gotta be smart man! (let out an Eli Wallach munchy grin & said): pitch in space and churn bags of bucks yeah?
I: (looked at my wife)
My wife: ..saying you sell air and make money.
I: ah.. ha..ha.. that's right.
He: guess it’s yo first jaunt out here buddy..
I: no I have gone in horses before..
My wife: he is asking is this your first trip to Egypt..
I: ooh.. yeah.
He: guess you kinda know the yarn behind..
I: (quickly looked back and almost fell off the cart)
My wife: relax. he is asking do you know the history of pyramids?
I: oh.. yeah. YEAH.
He: wanna try bit of yoyo man?
I: made out of butter milk? No. I don’t like..
My wife: he is asking do you want a bumby ride?
I: ah.. oof..no. no. (held the seat tight)
While leaving he asked me: dju speak French man?
